My dear visitor,

thank you for stopping by. I’m Kalypso – the voice behind Beneath the Ink.

I created this space and the curated reading list I’m sending out in each newsletter for readers like you and me — curious about new stories and always trying to make a bit more sense of the world. Whether it’s through forgotten histories, faraway cultures, or artfully layered fiction, I believe books are one of the best (and cheapest) ways to travel. Nothing takes your mind off everyday worries quite like a well-told story.

If you’ve ever felt heartbreak finishing the last page of a good book — or caught yourself missing a beloved character in real life — you know exactly what I mean.

To be honest, I didn’t read fiction for years.
Why? Life happened. And reading for pleasure just slipped off my list.
In hindsight, I regret not making the time for it.

Because the moment I picked up a novel again, I couldn’t let go. I was glued to the pages. And I remembered what I had missed so much: Through a good story, you get to live a thousand lives. You keep learning. New perspectives and possibilities open up — and suddenly, your experience of the world becomes so much richer.

After devouring the next few novels like I’d been starving, I started to wonder what to read next. I realized that I was especially hungry for books that would expand my little corner of the world. I wanted to experience foreign cultures, travel through time, and wander through the human mind.

That’s why I created Beneath the Ink.
Because I believe I’m not the only one on this path — and traveling is always better with company.

Don’t get me wrong: I’m not a literature scholar. I’ve studied linguistics, and these days, I work in a software company. So I probably won’t be covering „the great works of world literature“ (whatever that even means — but that’s a different conversation).
What I will share are the stories that moved me — the ones I think are worth passing on to a fellow wanderer.

So if you’re curious, come along. Feel free to stop by when you like.
And if you’d like me to bring the next story right to your inbox, just sign up for the newsletter.

I’d love to hear from you, too — so feel free to drop me a line anytime.

Kalypso
